How can I pitch a marketing idea to a company without getting screwed?
I have ideas for several companies and I want to pitch it to them, but I don’t know how to go about it. I have no experience in marketing and I want to know how to approach it without loosing any credit for my idea. Any ideas?

why sales people blame the marketing department for many of their failings and the vice versa? What are the difference between sales and marketing functions? Often sales and marketing tend to war with each other, why does this happen? 3. How can you classify the different types of relationships between sales and marketing functions of organizations? Which is the best type of relationship and why? If you are an organization that does not have the ideal relationship type between its sales and marketing groups, how do you bring change in the organization to move the organization to a more ideal position?
i know this is alot of questions to answer in one but see what u can answer…please, looking for some good insight here! thank you!

Sales focuses on individual customers, marketing focuses on the group of possible customers. They are very different functions, and require very different kinds of people to perform them.
You can start by evaluating the marketing department not on sales figures, but on increases in customer awareness.

I see sales as a function of marketing. Sales people are always on the look out for lead generation and think marketing should be working on lead generation. Also a lot of companies spread out marketing to different managers. Marketing is about product, price, promotion, and place. Marketing is also a very dynamic field because things are always changing. It seems more steady in sales because they are dealing with individual customers and generating business from existing customers and new customers.
Marketing is about looking at the overall market, the trends, and where things are going. If companies handled their marketing better then they should see better results and the salespeople might be happier. But the CEO and the President have a lot of control over some functions of marketing because of strategic decisions and so marketing loses a lot of control.
You bring change by giving more control to Marketing so they can do what they have been trained to do. This is not to say that the CEO and President don’t have control but they take the lead from Marketing and make decisions based on what Marketing tells them, which is based on available information. It is dealing with reality. But there is a lot of pressure to make the numbers, especially with a public company.
