Question to Engineers: Who is more harmful to civilization: Sales people or Marketing people?

This is a question to Engineers only who did not give up the art of engineering useful things and switched to Sales or Marketing.

The stupid guys who live in the other building and take 5x our salaries while they are not doing anything useful. The Marketing and Sales people who are either cheating the customers, mumbling with words they do not understand, or kill successful projects to secure more money for their greed.

It is not a function that harms civilization or anything or anyone else; it is individuals. Whether harmful people go into sales and/or marketing is debatable, but the greedy people do so.

I spend a few years in marketing before I decided that I missed the unique challenge of engineering. My salary was the same in marketing as it was in engineering. As a matter of fact, I advanced faster through the engineering ranks faster than marketing people generally do and ended up with a higher salary than those in marketing that I left there. It is not always true that marketing and sales people make more money than engineers, although it sometimes is.
