What are the easiest/quickest online marketing efforts for an independent band just releasing a cd? Blogs?
I am looking for the quickest techniques in order to get new music out onto the Internet, without the use of a marketing or PR company. Looking for the easiest DIY techniques that are actually working in today’s online music environment. Interested in myspace techniques, iTunes tips, facebook, etc. Anyone have any connections?

Definetly myspace. Get on there and put your music up. Become friends on other bands myspace(same genre as you) and people will come. You have to put out the word and play a lot of shows and pass out fliers and what not with your band and put the myspace url on it.
gah. fckk.

I would say myspace as well. banners are great and having your friends post your songs as they’re profile song. but another thing is just browsing through people and adding them as your friends and also posting on other band websites ADD ME ADD ME and always say what type of genre you are whenever I see a band that posts the add me add me with a genre i like i always check ‘em out. And once someone fall in love with your music the news will spread like wildfire! Myspace is a great place!
