Explain yourself or stop talking. What’s wrong with some socialism if it helps people? What’s so great about the free market if people are dying from lack of health care?

Edit> Your right to free speech is against the government, not me. The government cannot tell you to shut up, but I certainly can. You’re talking nonsense, man.

maybe their market solution is socialism…or at least an attempt to divert from nepotistic laissez faire

Just tonight? Try every night! These people don’t understand history, nor do they grasp the concept of “consequences.”

Thats the only way Dems can get votes – keep promising handouts and tax the rich

If all men are equal why do those who make more money have to pay more taxes?

One tax rate – tell the lazy to go pound sand. If you mortgage your house with a negative arm. and then the rates go up and you cant’ afford it the govt should not bail you out for making a bad decison.

Let these people go under so people with cash can grab there houses for dirt cheap.

They want to restructure the tax code so it favors working Americans instead of the already rich, unlike Republicans. They want to end the occupation of Iraq. They want to stop corporate tax loop holes which actually reward companies for moving overseas. They offered tax breaks to help the poor and people on fixed incomes with increased energy costs.

That’s a start to fixing the US budget and the market, isn’t it?

Republican policies are what always ruin the economy and the market. Does nooone else think we’re in a flash back of first Bush and the recession he and Reagan led us in to? Different year, different Republican, new recession.

Have ever known Democrats to learn from the mistakes of the past? This is why they can not understand the difference between abortion and capital punishment. Yet to find out why Democrats believe Jesus endorsed Government welfare.

every society has to have a bit of socialism to survive. For example, every western society except us has universal healthcare and it works well for them, Europe having a standard of living that America doesnt. So, get over this paranoia of socialism when you have no idea what it is

What you call socialism is really the government defending the rights of the common people. With the way things are going we should just vote for what corporation leads our nation. You don’t really believe you live in a true democracy with all the high rollers out there do you?
Money talks our rights walk. Are you a wanna be rich person? You defend the wealthy’s rights b/c someday you might be one? Slim chance. It is time we level the playing field and give the rich what for.

Have you ever noticed that when a board troll accuses Democrats of socialism, they never offer any constructive ideas on how to fix things…?

It would explain why their Republican handlers are such FAILURES with their economic policies: Everything has to revolve around a tax cut for the rich! (Seeing how “voodoo economics” didn’t work worth a damn anyways…? How far deep in debt are we right now?)

I’d say it was about seven years worth of “market solutions” that have gotten us to the brink of this pit in the first place.

Don’t worry its not socialism, 10 years ago and before it was the way the country was Governed, now its called Communist and Socialist. I find that odd.
We would be investing in our citizens and getting a return in a better economy and the general welfare of our citizens.

Please people, we are on the brink of one little recession (will probably be a really short one) and you people act like it’s the end of the world. Socialism isn’t the answer, we’re doing pretty fine without it, (see US GDP, and the fall of the Soviet Union.)

Also, the way of governing your talking about, gave us Stagflation. Yea, I don’t see any of you wanting to go back to that, how easy this country forgets. 20 years ago peopl would have killed for inflation and unemployment numbers this low.

Is helping out the middle class and thus the bulk of the American people slow down the bankruptcy rate which has already jumped 40%, spend money on schools instead of an ill-advised war, and provide a form of health care to help people who can hardly keep the lights on and water running…..

Is all of this what you call “socialisim”

I call it trying to stop a recession….

I do wish the Democrats would give up the same old tires socialist rhetoric. Socialism has been tried all over the planet and proven to make everyone poor. Just compare the standard of living in Cuba to that of the rest of the carribean.

If the Democrats would stop with their knee jerk Marxist policies we would have an alternative to the republicans and a true two party system.

As it is now you have a choice between the party that’s currently screwing up America and the Commies!

Because the Dems thrive on buying votes from slackers who thing the govt can solve all their problems. I am not rich. I am in heavy debt. I am a sub prime borrower because I work as a independent and can not prove my income but my house is cheap but it is my first. I pay my bills but live pay check to pay check like many others. I am married to a woman from Russia and she shakes her head at people who promote socializm because she lived under communism and socializm and it does not work.
Government cannot control the economy just obstruct it through tax policies. taxing people who prosper makes them likely to stop being prosperous. Bonuses are taxed at 50% so why work harder to get a bonus just to have half taken away? You don’t. 50% of Americans pay NO INCOME TAXES and 20%(?) get an earned income credit which is a rebate for more than they paid into taxes. Is this fair? No. National Healthcare is not FREE. The govt has to raise revenue to do this and where do you think the money comes from? Thtats right US! Our taxes would go through the roof to pay for 300 million people. Canada has 33 million and their budget falls short by Dec and older people are denied life saving surguries. Their Docs are second rate because they are paid 1/10 of what an American Doc makes. Most English Docs come here to practice and 3rd world Doc make up the majority of Docs in England. Do you want the same thing? I hope not. What America needs is a fair tax so everyone pays something not 3% paying 98% of the taxes. Rich people create jobs. they buy big ticket items that employ people to build. Poor people create burocrecise and bigger govt which is not what we need. Let the poor move up or stay where they are the responsiblity is on THEM.

Like Adam B. They feel it helps poor people and the economy. Yet, nothing could be further form the truth. Oppressing people by giving them money forever creates a dependence.

Wouldn’t they be much better off with a job and earning money? Incentives, and initiatives are a much better investment in the economy and peoples lives.

The never ending cycle of welfare promotes this dependence, which is truly unhealthy for those receiving it and the community in which they live. What do these people contribute or take from the community?

Give people vocational training if you really care about their welfare. You cannot ever take away a man’s skills!

Socialism makes us all dependent. The pride of ownership and self-reliance should belong to all citizens.

I know the answers will never come from the left as their path is dark, and descending.

Edit: Universal Health Care does not work in Europe or Australia, just look at the benefits that have been slashed due to rising medical costs. To get quality health care they must go private for a second policy which ends up costing more that the free enterprise system we have now! Reforms are being made in the private sector. If people are informed they will know the truth!

Most people here still do not get it. Socialism is evil. It is also stupid and never works, ever. Every time socialism is used as a solution, the results are less freedom, more waste, less choice and more and more government control.

Show me one successful socialist country. By successful, I would settle for one that does not have to build walls to keep its own population from escaping. I don’t remember the last time a boat full of Americans headed for Cuba seeking citizenship.

Yet the excuse makers will blame us for the miserable conditions in Cuba because we don’t trade with them. Most will fail to realize that the entire rest of the world does trade with them but the standard of living is still primitive.
