Best internet security protection program for a PC?
I have an Acer AspireOne netbook that I mainly use for traveling and school. I want to purchase a MacBook but don’t have the moeny right now, so this will have to do!
What is a good, full coverage internet protection program I can purchase to protect my computer from viruses, etc? I shop online, but do not usually download anything (i.e. music, videos). Thanks in advance!

The best security program that I think is symantec, but since i changed internet service providers, they gave me Mcafee which is like symantec norton internet security, but slower to scan your PC. So get symantec. For more info go to and browse for the program that’s right for you.

Norton Anti-Virus. Works great and I’ve never had ANY virus’s or anything. Runs full scans for you automatically of your ENTIRE computer.
i highly recommend it [=

I’ve found that the best is something called Bullguard -.
Not only is it cheap and fully functioned – spam filter, anti-virus, firewall etc – it’s a lot smaller than something like Norton so won’t slow your computer down. It’s also very easy to set up and use.
It has an automatic backup facility, which you can either schedule to save locally or they allow you about 10mb of online space to use.
I’m a professional web designer and have about 2000 emails a day, not to mention all the genuine ones from my clients and emailed files etc, and this has never let me down.

Macs are PC’s, silly. Personal Computer.
But for Windows, the best free security program right now is the upgrade to Windows 7. You won’t have any viruses nor need any third-party security applications.
Since your netbook can’t handle Windows 7 though, try SuperAntiSpyware (free) and/or Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (also free.) Spybot Search and Destroy is another great one for free.

I highly recommend you get Kaspersky, It’s much better than all all antivirus programs.

I use Avast home edition as my anti virus. It’s free and will scan files before you even finish downloading them.
Windows Firewall is now safe enough to trust for your sole firewall.
You can download AdAware and / or spybot search and destroy if you feel you need spyware and adware protection.
Adaware :
Spybot :
All are free and are equal to, if not better than their expensive counterparts.
Hope this helps,
Dave

If you do not want to purchase a security program such as Sophos or Windows Live One Care, then one of the best antivirus programs is Avast and it is free for home use. Just type Avast in to your search engine.
I however have been using Windows Live One Care for almost two years and have had no trouble with viruses or other malware in spite of spending a great deal of time on the internet, including numerous social networking sites.

AVG – its free aswell so its perfect for everyone and scans your computer everyday (if you want it too) and it doesnt give me much lag, i still play my games on ultra settings with acceptable Frame rates.
